Next Year.

Sofia this morning
Sofia

I've posted my resolutions over on DisOrganization, but I wanted to post here as well, because I will be posting a lot more on this blog about what I intend to do.

One of those things is paring down my "keeper" spinning wheels.

I have to be honest; I like to use what I collect. And when it gets to the point that I don't use what I collect, or have so many of said collection that I couldn't possibly use it all in any comfortable space of time, then it's time for me to cut down a bit and destash and keep only my favorites.

(I'm using the word destash instead of declutter for a reason.)

I did that with my spindles more than once this year. And I've done that with my spinning wheels more than once as well. But in all honesty, I use my spindles much more than my wheels, and I don't need a moderately large collection of spinning wheels. I need a handful of favorites.

Obviously, Sofia isn't going anywhere. If I had to sell every single spinning wheel I owned, save one, Sofia would be the keeper, hands-down, and not just because I spent a lot of money on her. More because everything I spin on Sofia--whether it be laceweight or bulky--turns out fabulous. She is not only a beautiful spinning wheel to look at; she is a beautiful spinning wheel to use.

I'd like to pare down my "keepers" to four, five at the most. Since my "keeper" list currently includes nine wheels (I just recounted; forgot one in the resolution post) that's a lot to ask. (And I'm not counting the projects at all.) But I think it's a necessary thing to do, especially if I want to pay off some credit cards this year (which I do), pay for my new kitchen roof, and have an actual honest-to-goodness savings account as well.

It's not going to be easy. But then again, this sort of thing never is very easy to begin with.
